Our founder started CheckMyReferences to stop what had happened to him, from happening to anyone else!
With years of experience in staffing, recruiting, and human resources, Allen was recruited to be a partner in a start-up executive staffing firm. As co-founder he recruited the entire staff, designed and installed state of the art office technology and authored all office policies and procedures. After a super successful launch and almost 12 months of incredible growth, he was stunned to be let go by the CEO three days before his stock vested. Not only did this save the company a small fortune in equity, he was replaced by someone making less money. Allen’s replacement was saying really negative things to the staff about him. This conflicted with his exit agreement that indicated he would receive a positive reference.
Allen asked a friend to call the company to get a better understanding of what was being said. The person who replaced him claimed to have managed Allen for 6 months (they had never met), and lied about his work performance and management style.
